Director of Carrier Management

Manage carrier operations (30%)

  • Create routing guides for customer service
  • Audit invoice charges and settle disputes
  • Review carrier reports, invoices and KPI’s for customers
  • Carrier onboarding and maintenance updates
  • Set KPI’s for carriers and review carrier performance

Review and negotiate pricing (30%)

  • Analyze carrier routings to improve costs
  • Analyze quotes from carriers for customers along with collaborating to determine pricing for customer
  • Coordinate with parcel carriers for pricing and KPI reporting
  • Gather and analyze request for price (RFP) customer information for carriers
  • Collaborate with IT to create reports to analyze pricing

Recruit, develop and maintain carrier relationships (30%)

  • Send RFP request to carriers for customer specific price, run rate quotes under different scenarios, put together documents for bidding
  • Set KPI’s, review carrier performance and hold carrier meetings
  • Evaluate claims with carriers, monitor results and assist with settling disputes
  • Develop all carrier relationships to a partnership level
  • Locate and recruit new carriers to meet customer needs

Consult, set-up and review carriers for customers (10%)

  • Design supply chain structure and collaborate for presentation with customers
  • Request for price (RFP) research and development along with analysis for customers
  • Call report entries for organization visibility
  • Create and conduct business reviews with customers and carriers utilizing KPI’s


  • Supply chain knowledge, including LTL pricing experience
  • National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) understanding
  • Analytical skills
  • Transportation Management System (TMS) knowledge
  • LTL and small package performance carrier knowledge
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills


  • 4-year degree in related field (preferred)
  • 2-4 years supply chain experience (preferred)

Work Environment:

  • This position typically works indoors in an office environment but will be exposed to a warehouse and trucking environment on regular basis.
  • Some travel may be required.

MVP Logistics is looking for a Director of Carrier Management in Plymouth, MN. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining carrier relationships, analyzing tariffs for effectiveness and profitability, and making carrier decisions to serve both the customer and MVP’s needs. Collaboration with all other departments will be required for decision making, reporting, customer presentations and business reviews.
